Whenever possible, we aim to prevent oral health problems before they start. One of the best ways to protect the teeth that are most prone to decay is by placing dental sealants. Sealants can be made of either clear or tooth-colored material. This material is applied over the back molars, covering the pits and grooves of the teeth to create a smooth surface that is easier to keep clean through regular brushing. Our dentists recommend having dental sealants placed on these back molars as soon as they erupt, which usually occurs between the ages of six and twelve.
